This
year's Mavericks Surf Contest will be different from previous years.
Here is the information we have:
The Contest format consists of seven total
heats:
Qualifying: Four six-man, 45-minute heats. Top three finishers
advance from each heat.
Semi-Final: Two six-man, 45-minute heats. Top three finishers
advance from each heat.
Final: One six-man, 45-minute heat. Top scorer becomes champion.
We do not know if there will be any breaks between
the heats.
When will the contest will take place?
The organizers will turn on the "green
light," and the contest will begin sometime after sunrise on the chosen
day between now and March 31st. The actual
date will be announced by the contest organizers. They will notify
everyone the day before.

Where can I best observe the waves and surfers?
If you would like to have a bird's eye view of the action, book a
trip with us. From a boat you get the thrilling experience of the roar
of the ocean and the spay hitting your face as the tube crashes down. We
observe the safety of the surfers and our passengers while offering an
awesome opportunity to take photographs of surfers in action!
How can I make a reservation?
Prior to the contest - We'll be running some trips to the observation
area between now and the date of the contest. Call us for information at
650-728-8433.
Private Charters- We are available for viewing
Maverick's (non contest days) on a charter basses These trips
are three hours. The cost is based upon 10 people at $50 per person. If
you have additional people it is an additional $50 per person (up to
20 passengers).
For the contest day - Tentatively, we plan
to split the day into two parts. The first trip will be three hours. We
shall then return to the dock and for the second trip will observe the
second part of the day. Another possibility is an all day pass. If we sell out
with all day passes, then there would be no need to return to the dock
between heats and we won't miss out on any of the action.

We do caution you - In order to see the surfers
practically within reach, we
must ride the large swells. The boat will remain on location until we are
scheduled to return to the dock. The only exception is an emergency (sea
sickness is not one)!!
