Riptide Charters offers a comprehensive deep sea fishing experience that caters to both beginners and seasoned anglers. The journey starts at the break of dawn, where customers board the state-of-the-art fishing vessel, fully equipped with modern amenities and safety gear.

Once out at sea, our expert guides share their knowledge of the marine ecosystem and teach participants how to use fishing equipment effectively. The adventure further unfolds as customers reel in their catch, potentially including species like tuna, salmon, or halibut.

Our Vessel and Captain

The F/V Riptide is a 40' fiberglass hull, equipped with turbo diesel, state-of-the art electronics, and is licensed and inspected by the United States Coast Guard.

The "Riptide" is owned and operated by Capt. William Smith, who has been a licensed captain since 1984 and has fished Half Moon Bay for decades. FISHING TRIPS

We offer several kinds of fishing opportunities.

We troll for the mighty King Salmon! Salmon is open through the end of October; see our Rates page for this season's rules.

Rockfish is open from April through December 31.
Shallow water is seasonal, generally May through December, weather permitting. Deep water is open all season, April through December.

Tuna fishing (bluefin and albacore)
Tuna fishing is very seasonal: June through November, subject to weather conditions.

Dress appropriately for the weather conditions

Bring along personal items such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Rental gear for salmon and rockfish trips is $20 per person; tuna troll gear is included.
