Salmon fishing
6-8-2025
William Smith
Today being the 2nd of our limited salmon opener i headed back towards the area where on our trip home yesterday i saw a great deal of whale activity.
I really wanted to check that area out as it was several miles away from where we were fishing yesterday and thought i could find my own spot to work.
Well, when we put the lines in in that stea i was seeing some great spots of bait down deep and a couple of the whales.
BOOM,FISH ON! And then another and another!!
Both Captains lee and Mike who we’re working the deck were directing the hot rods around to keep the lines clear so we could work the fish up to the boat. Dancing around everyone and deftly scooping up the prizes of EXCELLENT quality SALMON!!
It’s thought to do when we have all the lines in the water snd they were preforming like conductors! Over under and around to get the lines clear to get these beautiful salmon to the net!!
I walked back to see Lee flip over the rail a net full!! Three salmon scoop!
Barely getting the net clear and he was back at it again. All the while Captain Mike was working with another customer who had a TOAD salmon working up close to the boat. He shoots the net and scoops up a 25 lb fish!! Swinging it up snd over the rail to more shouts of ANOTHER FISH HANGING!! At this point we have 5 fish on the hooks and I also had to grab a 3rd net to get into the action!!! Don’t think I was going to let them have all the fun!!!!
Ok we got things organized ( no small feat with fish flopping around all over the place.
We did a better job today with keeping track of the fish as they were tougher to keep up with all the action.
When we’re getting close to limits for everyone we counted them out and had 5 more to go for full boat limits we got another quad!!
Ok now we need 1 fish….
Fortunately we hooked a nice one and i holler at everyone else to get their lines out of the water.
We ended up with 22 limits of beautiful King salmon!!
So YES, this was another day of EPIC FISHING!!
One for the ages!!
